Initial M1 Max Geekbench scores put the processor's performance at roughly 1.5x that of the M1. ![]() The MBP config I really wanted (14" M1 Max/1TB) was sitting at roughly $1500 more. But when I spec'ed out new a bottom end 14" MBP 16GB/1TB, it was $500 more than an M1 MacBook Air M1 16GB/1TB out the door. I was anxiously anticipating the new MBP release. I run Kubernetes on it, I have multiple IDEs, apps and Chrome tabs open at any given time and this year is the first year, I have noticed the dreaded beachball with any frequency. It is basically my do everything software development machine. Retail for new in box was around $2200 in early 2015. I bought my current MBP months into production as a refurb for ~$1700. I'm nearing the end of my upgrade cycle for my current MBP (2014 15" i7 16GB/512GB w/discrete GPU). ![]()
